Damon® System is a well known self-ligating metal braces brand from Ormco Corporation, invented by Dr. Dwight Damon.
Due to their popularity the term Damon Braces has become synonymous with self-ligating braces, becoming more well known than the technical term self- ligating braces itself.
Similarly how Pampers® has been adopted to mean diapers in our day to day speech.
Self-ligating braces generally cost a few thousand dollars more than traditional metal braces due to their advanced design and technology.
