Toothache Treatment at Kuo Dental

We understand how painful and disruptive a toothache can be.
Here’s how we can help relieve your discomfort and address the underlying cause.

Scaling & Polishing

When plaque and tartar build up along the gum line and around the roots of your teeth, they can cause gum soreness, bleeding, and tooth sensitivity.
Intraoral scan

We use a digital intraoral scan to capture a detailed 3D image of your teeth and gums in real time. This helps us detect hidden issues such as cracks, gum problems, or early decay that may be causing your toothache.

Dental Filling

Wait… there’s a small hole or crack in your tooth? Even if it’s not obvious, it allows bacteria to enter and cause pain or decay.
Filling
We use filling to seal the damaged area, stop bacteria from spreading, relieve discomfort, and protect the tooth from future infection.
Before | After

For: Small to medium sized cavity

Note:

  • Aesthetic: Tooth-coloured filling for natural look
  • Comfort: Anesthesia to reduce pain during process
Onlay
We use an onlay to restore larger damaged areas while strengthening and preserving your natural tooth.
Before | After

For: Large cavity

Note:

  • Better strength than filling
  • Less invasive than crown
Crown
We use a crown to cover and protect severely damaged teeth, restoring strength and function.
Before | After

For: compromised tooth structure

Note:

  • Maximum protection for tooth

Sensitive Tooth Treatment

Does hot or cold food make you wince? Tooth sensitivity occurs when the protective enamel wears down or gums recede, exposing the inner layers of the tooth.
Fluoride treatment
We apply fluoride to strengthen weakened enamel and block tiny exposed tubules in the tooth, helping to reduce sensitivity and protect against further decay.

For: Sensitive tooth and safeguard against decay

Bonus:
Stop micro-caries (initial stage of tooth decay) from growing by reducing bacteria and remineralizing the enamel

Soft Tissue Graft
We perform a soft tissue graft to cover exposed tooth roots caused by gum recession, reducing sensitivity and protecting the tooth structure.

For: Sensitive tooth

Bonus:
Significant aesthetic improvement for anterior teeth

Root Canal Treatment

Sometimes the problem goes deeper than what we can see. When bacteria reach the inner nerve of the tooth, it can cause persistent pain or infection.

A root canal treatment (RCT) aims to remove the infection, relieves your pain, and saves your teeth.

For: Compromised pulp (decay or cracked tooth)

Note:

  • Treated tooth (with crown) can last a lifetime (with most lasting 10-20yrs)
  • Good oral hygiene is a MUST

We strive for single visit whenever possible

  • Technology: Morita Apex Locator + Rotary assisted
  • Industry best practices and know-how

X-rays (Cracked tooth)

Can’t find the source of your pain? Some dental issues like cracks or infections below the gum line are not visible using our naked eye.
X-Rays
We use digital dental X-rays to detect cavities, infections, and bone loss that may not be visible during a regular examination.
CBCT (3D x-ray)
We use CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) to capture detailed 3D images of your teeth, roots, jawbone, and surrounding structures. This allows for more precise diagnosis and safer treatment planning, especially for complicated cases.

Tooth Extraction

We gently loosen the tooth before removal to minimise trauma to the surrounding tissues. This approach makes the procedure more comfortable, faster, and helps reduce swelling after treatment.

Note:

  • For difficult extraction, tooth will be loosen via our Mectron Piezo machine
  • Lesser trauma, faster recovery

Knocked-out Tooth

A knocked-out tooth is a tooth that has been completely dislodged from its socket due to injury. Immediate dental care is crucial to improve the chances of saving the tooth.

We may reposition the tooth and secure it with a dental splint to stabilise it while the surrounding tissues heal.

FAQs about Toothache Treatment in Johor Bahru

Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or paracetamol can provide temporary relief.

However, medication only masks the pain, it doesn’t treat the underlying cause. It’s important to see a dentist to address the root problem and prevent it from getting worse. Visit our dental clinic today!

Avoid very hot or cold foods and drinks, hard or crunchy foods, sugary snacks, and chewing on the affected side. Also avoid poking or prodding the painful area with your tongue or fingers, as this can worsen the irritation.

If you’re experiencing any of the warning signs we mentioned earlier (pain lasting more than 2 days, swelling, fever, or signs of infection) call us right away to prevent the issue from worsening.

With modern techniques and technology, root canal treatment is comfortable and virtually pain-free. We use local anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel discomfort during the procedure.

The cost varies depending on the cause and treatment needed, such as fillings, root canals, or extractions.
